14 -Charles and Natiya's Wedding Film

__

This is a full length film about a very amazing couple. It's about an hour long, but I think their story is worth the investment of your time. If you want to see it full screen, go to www.americanweddingstory.blip.tv

I first sat down with Charles and Natiya about a year ago. At first their story sounded too good to be true, almost a fairytale. But when they started talking about the trials and real life issues that they had to work through to get to their wedding, I started to see how rich and deep their relationship really is. They reminded me that love is not just serendipitous like it sometimes seems on the surface. Somtimes, it's complicated and confusing and takes hard decisions and work in order to see it and appreciate it.

Their wedding was at Ginter Park Presbyterian and the reception was at The Omni in Richmond, VA.
The event was planned be Colleen Cook and coordinated by Mary and Rebecca from CC's Events. The event was photographed by Michael Cope of Michael Cope Photography.

I was joined by Jason Parks one of Richmonds great video shooters. Jason has a nice sensitivity to the story behind the wedding.
I was fortunate to get Candice Nelms to edit the film. In the end, it's the editor that tells the story. Candice spent the time and effort to try and get to know these families through the footage and the interviews. I think it paid off very well.

Thanks everyone.

Take care.

Jennifer and Sam Preview

Jennifer is a planner.
She probably had her wedding planned when she was 5.
She is also an amazing person and very sweet.
When I asked her what she would want to remember most from her wedding day, she said it was her smile. She wanted to remember how the place made her smile, how her flowers made her smile.
But more importantly she wanted to remember how her family and freinds made her smile and how Sam made her smile. My guess is that he is still making her smile and will for the rest of their lives. Sam is a great guy and is so good to her.

The location for the event was The Mill at Fine Creek. Floral design was by Flowers by Bill and Kelly.
Quarterman Photography photographed the event.
The event was coordinated by Windy Jennings of Weddings By Windy. She is the wonderful planner featured in this preview.

Thanks to Jen and Sam. I really had a great weekend,
Take care.

Saturn Return -Monica and Clyde

As much as I try to stay out of the way, there is no doubt that I am an intrusion on the wedding day. I am the guy that hangs around while family and friends are enjoying this very important day. I am so honored when people not only want me around but go out of their way to make me feel welcome. Monica and Clyde and their families really did this for me. Thanks so much to everyone for a really lovely weekend.
Monica wanted to be married in the church where her parents were married, the church she grew up in.
It was great to see that happen.
The reception was at the Imani Center with event design by Design Elegance. The photographer was Dan Shuman with JPG Photography and the day was coordinated by Sonja Holt.
Thanks so much to Jason Parks and Meghan Marchetti for shooting the day with me.
Thanks Monica and Clyde for asking me to be a part of their day.
Take care.

April and Dustin

I had such a nice weekend. I was fortunate to get to know a great couple and their families. They were so open and welcoming to me. That really makes me feel good about what I do.
April and Dustin are an amazing couple with a great story and told it honestly and from the heart. As did their parents. There were no "sound bites", just real honest stories. It was very beautiful to witness.

Angela and Ashton at Celebrations at the Reservoir not only helped make the day great for April and Dustin, but they also made me feel welcome and were so helpful and accomadating to the needs of the film.
The photographer was Dave Marks. Check out their website if you haven't already. Thanks to Dan Brazda for shooting the wedding with me. What a talented guy.

Take care.

The New Documentary Style

event%20DV%20cover.jpgI was interviewed earlier this year for an article on a wedding film style that has been referred to as the New Documentary Style. Other people interviewed for the article were Chris Watson of Watson Videography in Dallas Texas, Glen Elliott of GM Elliott Videography in New Jersey, Chris Jones from Mason Jar Films in Texas, Jason Magbanua of Jason Magbanua Wedding Videography in the Phillipeans and Maurice O'Carrol from Ireland's Velvetine Productions.
Check out the article, it is really an interesting look into this style of filmmaking.

I really beleive in this style and it inspires me. It is a really great way to tell the story of a family and a wedding day. However, there are so many styles in wedding films. There is so much amazing stuff out there being produced. It's really such a great time to be a wedding shooter.

Take care.

William
